About Us

CARBON AWARE PEOPLE is the not so little sister of Carbon Aware Productions (CAP) – brainchild of Algy Sloane, launched in 2009 as the green conscience of locations company Scout Productions. CAP was created to make sustainability simpler for the advertising industry while helping support spectacular British planting projects along the way. Jacky joined CAP in 2020, and in 2026 launched Carbon Aware People to crank open the door
for individuals and communities to get involved in nature recovery projects too. Today, both CAP and CAPeople are run by Jacky with the support of Algy, and super talented fellow Directors, Dan Channer and Serena Cook. Working alongside trusted ecologists and land managers around the UK, the team relish the simple joy getting trees in the ground, and of linking funders with their planting projects.
Jacky Sloane
CEO
Before running Carbon Aware, Jacky spent 25 years producing factual documentaries for primetime TV. She produced series such as the BBC's Hugh & the Ivory War, War on Plastic with Hugh & Anita, and Channel 4's The Great Climate Fight. She is passionate about making environmental action accessible and practical, and draws on life experience gathered from years spent living and working abroad in countries including Kenya and Sri Lanka.

Algy Sloane
FOUNDER & DIRECTOR
Algy studied Environmental Management at UWE and spent his formative years at road protests before finding himself sourcing locations for car commercials. When he set up Scout Productions in 2003, he made sure his love of the environment came with him, founding Carbon Aware to help productions make life as green as possible on location. Scout Productions is now one of the UK's largest location agencies. Algy would still live in a tree if he could.

Dan Channer
COMPANY DIRECTOR
Dan is MD of a property company in Berkshire and Wiltshire. Previously he ran two similar businesses, and oversaw their sale to two different PLCs. His formative years were spent in advertising and journalism, before joining his family property business which won multiple national awards during his tenure. He is a Visiting Fellow at Cranfield School of Management and a qualified coach. Favourite trees include ash, American oak and beech.

Serena Cook

She is a partner in Fincadelica Ibiza and co-founder and vice president of Ibiza and Formentera Preservation charity which has raised over 4 million euros and supported over 60 projects since 2008.
